Pi Mu Epsilon is a national mathematics honor society. It is a non-secret organization whose purpose is the promotion of scholarly activity in mathematics among students in academic institutions, and among the staffs of qualified non-academic institutions. It was incorporated in 1914 under the laws of the State of New York, the sequel to an earlier (1903) mathematics club at Syracuse University. The New York Upsilon Chapter was founded at Ithaca College in 1969.
