1969-1970

  • David Adorno joins the department as a full professor and chair of the department.
  • Steve Hilbert and Chuck Kelemen join the department as assistant professors.
  • John Maceli and Sally Sievers join the department as lecturers.
  • Holmes leaves the department.
  • Introduction to Numerical Analysis becomes a two-semester course (377-378).

1968-1969

  • Visiting professor Barbara Ann Foos becomes chair of the department.
  • Marcia Ascher is promoted to associate professor.
  • Frieda Holley, Robert Lieberman, Richard Millman, and Stolberg join the department as assistant professors.
  • Ucoluk leaves the department.
  • The following courses are offered: 251-What is Mathematics, 371-Theory of Numbers, 422-Advanced Differential Equations, and 461-Differential Geometry.
  • 405-Combinatorial Topology becomes 405-Point Set Topology.

1967-1968

  • May Kinsolving is promoted to associate professor and becomes chair of the department.
  • Ucoluk, Margaret Gessamn, and Holmes join the department as assistant professors.

1966-1967

  • Marcia Ascher becomes chair of the department.
  • Jean Spitzer joins the department as an assistant professor.
  • New curriculum: 090-Intermediate Algebra, 101-College Algebra, 102-Plane Geometry, 111-112-General Mathematics, 210-202-Analytic Geometry and Calculus, 221-222-Finite Mathematics, 231-Linear Algebra, 232-Concepts of Mathematics, 301-Analytic Geometry and Calculus, 303-304-Modern Algebra, 305-306-Introduction to Analysis, 311-The Logic and Application of Digital Computers, 322-Differential Equations, 341-Statistics, 362-Modern Geometry, 402-Introduction to Numerical Analysis, 403-Applied Calculus, 404-Functions of a Complex Variable, 405-Combinatorial Topology, 408-History of Mathematics, 491-492-Reading in Mathematics, and 493-494-Honors Course.

  • Ithaca College moves to South Hill.
  • Jon Baskerville, Shirley Hockett, May Kinsolving, Robert Bryan, and Diane (Schmidt) Schwartz join the department as assistant professors.
  • Eve Greenberg and Wei Hsuan leave the department.
  • The following courses are offered: 302-The Logic and Application of Digital Computers, 401-Introduction to Numerical Analysis, and 482-Topology.
