The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in mathematics is offered for the first time. Four students enroll.
The following courses are introduced: Math 185-Mathematical Experimentation, Math 231-Linear Algebra, Math 270-Mathematical Reasoning with Discrete, and Math 216-Mathematical Statistics. In addition, the first dedicated graduate course offered by the department was Math 51000-Graduate Seminar in Mathematics, part of the requirement for the MAT program. The first, rotating, course in the MAT math program was offered in Summer 2006 as Math 54000 - Numerical Methods.
The following courses are discontinued: Math 176-Mathematical Problem-solving with Technology, Math 260-Linear Algebra, Reasoning and Differential Equations I, and Math 261-Linear Algebra, Reasoning and Differential Equations II.
