Physics 311 - Analytical Mechanics
The goals for Mechanics are:
-
To introduce students to intermediate mechanics: statics and dynamics of particles and rigid bodies,
central forces, planetary motion, chaos, and Lagrangian formalism.
-
To help students become better and more organized problem solvers using mechanics as a tool to that
end.
-
To help students become better abstract and critical thinkers, using mechanics as a tool to that end.
-
To familiarize students with modeling and numerical methods of predicting a system's behavior.
