2008-2009

 The physics department's Ford Research Fund supported the summer research of Emily Backus, Romaine Isaac, Christopher Hastings.

External grant funding supported the summer research of Judith Olson, Charlie Strehlow, Kevin Hurley, Charlie Simkin.

Colin Howard was awarded the Peter Seligmann Memorial Scholarship and the Department of Physics Balance Award.

Rhea Hanrahan and Jordan Hyatt were recognized as our outstanding Teaching Assistants for the year.

2007-2008

2006-2007

Dana internships to conduct summer research were awarded to Nik Bautrich, Penyo Michev, and Lia Stelljes. An academic year Dana internship was awarded to Sweta Shah.

The physics department's Ford Research Fund supported the summer research of George DeBeck V and Kyle Stone

Luke Keller's external research funding supported ?'s summer research.

Beth Clark Joseph's external research funding supported Adam Karnish and Kris Georgiev's summer research.

Lia Stelljes was awarded the Peter Seligmann Memorial Scholarship.

Lia Stelljes, James Grandner, and Rhea Hanrahan received the Outstanding TA Award.

Nirbhik Chitrakar, George DeBeck V, Kristiyan Georgiev, Maria Gonzalez, Brandon Sforzo, and Lia Stelljes were all inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society. Students must have a 3.3 GPA overall, a 3.3 GPA in their physics courses, and completed all of their sophomore-level courses to qualify for admission to Sigma Pi Sigma.

2005-2006

Tayza Yeelin was awarded a C-STEP grant and the physics department's Ford Research Fund money to conduct research with assistant professor Bruce Thompson during summer of 2005.

Brian Kropa, Robert MacCurdy ('99), Michael Stark, and David Whelan were all inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society. Students must have a 3.3 GPA overall, a 3.3 GPA in their physics courses, and completed all of their sophomore-level courses to qualify for admission to Sigma Pi Sigma.


2003-2004

Alex Williamson was awarded the Department of Physics Balance Award; an award given to a physics student who balances coursework and research.

Matrika Bhattarai, Natalie Burek, Matthew Hodgson, Kyle McMann, David Drollette, Eric Leibenspeerger, Jay Schuren, Phil Slingerland, Matthew Sprague, and Alex Williamson were all inducted into Sigma Pi Sigma, the National Physics Honor Society. Students must have a 3.3 GPA overall, a 3.3 GPA in their physics courses, and completed all of their sophomore-level courses to qualify for admission to Sigma Pi Sigma.

Physics and chemistry student Mathew Sprague was awarded the prestigious Goldwater Scholarship for 2003-2004. Goldwater scholars are selected by a national board on the basis of academic merit. Since Matt plans a career in physical chemistry, we find we must share his prodigious talent with the chemistry department.

The 2003 C. P. Snow Scholarship Award was given to physics student Jamie De Gregory. After a college-wide search the award is given to the student who best bridges the gap between the sciences and humanities. Jamie has been an excellent physics student while simultaneously writing.
