10. Physics Is about Everything.
Physics is the study of the very foundations of our physical world.
9. Ford Observatory
Our telescope in the Ford Observatory provides a window on the universe for student researchers and for the campus community.
8. Small Classes, Individual Attention
You really get to know the professors and work closely with them on course material and research.
7. Undergraduate Research
Interesting student research projects are available both in the summer and during the semester. Most students give seminars and talks about their accomplishments. Some of the current projects include astronomy of asteroids , acoustics, biomechanics, planetary exploration, and pulse height analysis.
6. Center for Natural Sciences
The department is located in a wonderful building with excellent facilities.
5. Concurrent Study in Music and Theater
Want to study physics and music at the same time? Want to dance your way through college and learn to calculate your own rotational velocity? You can at IC! The College’s wide variety of degree programs and minors gives you a virtually endless choice.
4. Relevant to Today's World
Physics provides a basis for understanding current technology.
3. Amaze Your Friends
Explain what E=mc2 really means or calculate the magnetic field of the spinning AT&T logo.
2. 3-2 Engineering
If you enroll in this program you get a degree in physics from Ithaca College and an engineering degree from an engineering school. You also have the option of staying at Ithaca College for 4 years and then heading into an engineering graduate program.
1. Open Future
An education in physics provides a foundation for a wide variety of future endeavors. Physics is useful in engineering, medicine, business (bond traders use the heat flow equation), law (patent law needs technical understanding), and any field that requires clear, logical thinking and analysis.
