Auditions for Theatre Department Productions
Auditions for departmental productions are held at the beginning of the semester. All casting for faculty-directed shows, senior directing projects, and directing ensembles during a given semester will, whenever possible, be done at one time. For audition dates, see the callboard and the master calendar in this book. Auditions are held in a professional manner which includes proper dress, thorough preparation of the appropriate materials, and reporting to the stage manager at the appointed time.
Scripts for each show are ordinarily available in the main office the week before auditions begin. These scripts may be signed out for a one-hour period. The student is responsible for the script and for making sure it is signed back in when returned. He or she will be charged replacement value if it is not returned.
There may be occasions in which a student must arrive on campus after fall or spring classes begin due to extending circumstances or contractual obligations to a professional engagement. Students who wish to petition that absences from their theatre classes and/or auditions be excused because of those obligations must provide their area coordinator and the department chair with a copy of their contract with the ending date of employment clearly indicated or a written statement of those extenuating circumstances. If approved, the student is also responsible for contacting each of their professors, notifying of their late arrival. Performers must also contact the stage management coordinator of their absence from auditions. These arrangements must be accomplished no later than two weeks prior to the beginning of classes.
All notices pertaining to productions will be posted on the cast callboard located on the ground floor next to classroom 006.
