Race in America: Then, Now, and Tomorrow
On Thursday, April 10, there will be a screening of Barack Obama's recent speech on race relations, followed by a campuswide discussion, "Race in America: Then, Now, and Tomorrow." The event takes place at 4:30 p.m. in Textor 103.Cynthia Henderson, associate professor of theatre arts, will moderate the open discussion, which will be based on Barack Obama's historic speech given March 18 in Philadelphia. That speech, entitled "A More Perfect Union," will be screened before the discussion.
The goal of this panel and discussion is to begin a healthy, truthful, and proactive discussion on race relations in our country. The panelists for this discussion will be:
- Zillah Eisenstein, Professor of Politics
- Sean Eversley-Bradwell, Assistant Professor, CSCRE
- Kathleen Mulligan, Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts
- Michael Trotti, Associate Professor of History
- Jim Utz, Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts
