Assistant Professor | Scenic Design

Andrew is a Brooklyn based designer, working in a variety of disciplines on projects ranging from theater, opera, and live events, to film and commercial spaces.

Andrew received his B.A. from Middlebury College with a degree in architecture, and his M.F.A. from Yale School of Drama.  He has participated in the Lincoln Center Directors Lab, is a member of the Wingspace Design Collective, and previously taught in the Design Department at the Yale School of Drama (2011-14).

Andrew has designed the sets and/or costumes for the world premieres of: Craig Lucas’s Ode to Joy (Rattlestick); Jonathan Tolin’s Buyer & Cellar (BarrowStreet/Rattlestick); Sharr White’s Annapurna (Magic Theatre); Adam Rapp’s Dreams of Flying, Dreams of Falling (Atlantic Theatre Company); Heidi Shrek’s The Consultant (Long Wharf Theatre); Marcus Ramirez’s The Royale (Kirk Douglas); Taylor Mac’s The Lily’s Revenge (Magic Theatre); Mike Lew’s Bike America (The Alliance); Luis Alfaro’s Bruja (Magic Theatre); Nick Jones’s Trevor (Lessor America); Ethan Lipton’s Red Handed Otter (Playwrights Realm); Madhuri Shekar’s Love and Warcraft (The Alliance); Lucy Boyle’s The Blue Deep (Williamstown); Judy Gold’s It’s Judy’s Show (Williamstown); Andy Bragen’s This is My Office (Play Company); Ken Urban’s The Correspondent (Rattlestick); Melinda Lopez’s Caroline in Jersey (Williamstown); and Octavio Solis’s Se Llama Christina (Magic Theatre).

Some selected upcoming work includes the Buyer & Cellar National Tour, directed by Stephen Bracket (Chicago, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, San Francisco, Toronto, London, etc.); Verite, directed by Moritz Von Stuelpnagel (Lincoln Center); Sense and Sensibility, directed by Sarah Rasmussen (Dallas Theater Center); & The Humana Festival (Actors Theatre of Louisville, 2015).

NYC credits with: Atlantic Theatre Company, Lincoln Center, Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, The Play Company, Playwrights Realm, Cherry Lane Theatre, Ma-Yi Theatre Company, Barrow Street, Metropolitan Playhouse, Lesser America, The New School, NYMF, Summer Play Festival, and the Daryl Roth II.

As an assistant/associate designer, Andrew has worked with colleagues Riccardo Hernandez, Allen Moyer, Michael Yeargan, Robert Brill, David Korins, Takeshi Kata, Louisa Thompson, James Schuette, among others – on productions at most major regional theaters, Broadway, and multiple major opera companies in the U.S. and abroad.
