During Autumn 2013, Susan used a Fulbright grant to work with the Creative Edge project team at NUI Galway (Ireland). The Creative Edge is funded by the EU’s Northern Periphery and is an international, multi-year, collaboration that brings together universities, development agencies and industry bodies from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Finland and Sweden to identify the current breadth and future scope of the creative economy in peripheral regions. Susan conducted interviews with 25 artist-entrepreneurs, living and working in the West of Ireland and engaged in a variety of fields. Her blog "Vox" sheds light on some of her findings.

In Ithaca, Susan has also supervised several student-initiated projects such as "Much Ado About Outreach" as well as internships with local arts organizations such as Cornell's Concert Series and the State Theatre of Ithaca.

Susan has been a project team member of Cornell's New York Creative Economy research project, that explores the potential of creative economy initiatives in upstate New York to be translated into strategies for community and regional development, linking the arts and the creative process to a wider range of economic activities. She serves on the boards of Ithaca's State Theatre and the Tompkins County Strategic Tourism and Planning Board.

She completed a Masters Degree in Communications through IC's Park School in December 2011.
