Drama (B.A.)

BA Course Sequencing

A Midsummer Night's Dream

The bachelor of arts degree in drama offers more freedom to students than any other degree in the theatre program at Ithaca College. The benefits of this freedom include the ability to take a limited number of courses in other areas of the theatre department, to minor in another area, or even to double major.  Drama majors also take at least one, often two, and occasionally three semesters off campus. This variety makes it a challenge to accurately list what course should be taken in what semester.  Drama students frequently express interest in performing, directing, stage management, playwriting, dramaturgical work, theatre management, and design.   Each of these intra-departmental choices, in addition minors, double majors, and the possibilities of going abroad, make it difficult to mandate specific courses semester by semester.  That said, the following is a an outline of courses all drama majors must enroll in, with notes after each year to point out some of the variations possible in this degree.

Because there are so many available variations, it is strongly recommended that drama majors work closely with their advisors from the first semester they are enrolled at Ithaca College.
