Academic Writing II (WRTG 11100)
The Academic Writing II curriculum focuses on inquiry-based writing and presents research as an entry point to intellectual dialogue. Our students undertake independent projects which require them to identify research goals and use scholarly databases and library catalogs to locate sources. They learn to select and organize sources as well as to judge their relative value. Based on their research, students arrive at their own conclusions and compose papers in which they synthesize sources in support of those conclusions.
In addition to its emphasis on research, Academic Writing II continues and extends instruction on the five elements covered in Academic Writing I curriculum:
- Rhetorical Knowledge
- Critical Thinking, Reading, and Writing
- Processes
- Knowledge of Conventions
- Composing in Electronic Environments
