Vivian Gornick is a critic and an essayist. She has also taught non-fiction writing in MFA programs all over the country. Among her many books are Fierce Attachments (a memoir), Approaching Eye Level (a collection of personal essays) and The End of the Novel of Love (a collection of critical essays).
