The Writing Department will be offering an online section of Personal Essay (WRTG 20500) this summer from June 30 to Aug. 1. The course encourages students' own self-exploration of their identities and introduces them to the Personal Essay genre through assigned readings and writing practice. Various techniques of narrative and reflective storytelling also are taught. The course is ideal for students in Ithaca, at home, or on the move, as it's online and all the work will be turned in digitally.

Writing Department Associate Professor Cory Brown won one of three finalist awards in The Missouri Review's Jeffrey E. Smith Editor's Prize, for his personal essay "Compliance." The essay is scheduled to be published in the fall issue of South Loop Review.

Writing Department Associate Professor Catherine Taylor gave a presentation on “Research and Innovative Writing: History, Archives, and Documentary Aesthetics” at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a public reading of her creative writing as part of the "Felix Series of New Writing" on Thursday, March 6th.
