Hi there! My name is Julia Becker, and I am currently a senior English major with minors in Legal Studies and the Humanities and Sciences Honors Program. This is my sixth semester working at the Writing Center, and I'm glad to help with any piece of writing a student brings in, though my specialties include academic writing, poetry and Shakespeare analysis, personal essay, and business assignments.

My name is Noah Burd. I'm a senior writing major and art history minor. I like to write stories, essays, songs, and comedy. When I'm not working on a project or hanging out in the writing center, I spend most of my time cooking, drawing, and reading the Wikipedia pages for different varieties of flour. I like tutoring because I like hearing people think out their ideas and helping them get those ideas onto paper.

Julie Winograd, a senior Cinema and Photography major, concentrating in Screenwriting and minoring in Philosophy, hails from the great state of Colorado. She plays hockey (and is a die-hard fan of the Colorado Avalanche), loves reading/discussing Shakespeare (just mention KING LEAR and she'll get excited), and spends far too much time watching TV shows and movies (but that's okay, because it's her major). She specializes in screenplays, personal essays, and academic essays.

Caitlin Ghegan is a senior Writing major from Franklin, Massachusetts with a minor in Web Programming. Caitlin has wanted to write novels since she was seven years old and hopes for a career in publishing upon graduation. She enjoys all types of writing and has taken courses in everything from Magazine Writing to advanced Fiction. Outside of class, she can be found playing Quidditch or working on Stillwater, the Writing department’s literary magazine. She is well-versed in grammar, citation, syntax, and style and would be more than happy to work with you!

My name is Sarah Singer and I write novels, short stories, screenplays, and the occasional poem. I'm a double major in Creative Writing and Philosophy & Religious Studies (yes, that's one whole major) with a minor in Honors. I'm experienced in working with international students, so if English is your second language, I'm here to help! I also specialize in creative writing (both fiction and non fiction), academic writing, and religious theory. I look forward to meeting anyone who wants to work with me!

Vicky Wolak is a junior writing and French double major and Honors minor from Wayne, New Jersey. When she’s not in the writing center, she is a member of the Catholic community and co-teaches a one-credit class on education issues for the Honors Program. She specializes in academic writing, personal essays, argument, feature and magazine writing, fiction, and grammar.

Hi, my name is Kirsten Samanich and I am currently a junior Writing major with minors in Italian studies and the H&S Honors Program. I was born in Ohio and most recently I hail from Singer Island, Florida, where I majored in Creative Writing in High School. Writing has been a love of mine for longer than I can remember and I tend to lean towards short fiction and poetry

My name is Jolene Lydia Cochran and I am a senior Writing major with a concentration in Creative Writing. I am also a triple minor in Art, German Language Studies, and the Honors Program. I am faithful player of crossword puzzles and have read more Sherlock Holmes than is probably healthy. My primary specialties include: academic writing, personal essay, argument, and fiction.

My name is David Cushing and I’m a senior Writing and Philosophy double-major. Writers I look to for inspiration include Aldous Huxley, the poet Russell Edson, and my friend Dylan Emmons (a recent graduate of IC’s Writing program). Anyway, I’m really enjoying working at the writing center and I look forward to working with more fellow students in the future. I’ll probably be most helpful with Academic Writing assignments, analytic stuff in or near the domain of philosophy (papers that rely on close readings of dense primary sources), and poetry. Also, I’ve taken a bunch of Spanish classes and know a little bit about music theory. Perhaps those bits of info are relevant for someone out there.

My name is Liz Levine and I am a Junior Writing major/Politics minor from Madison, Wisconsin. Currently, my main interests in writing are fiction (short story), personal essay, and spoken word poetry. I spend an inordinate amount of time watching youtube videos of slam poetry and TED talks about the brain. On campus, I participate in the Model United Nations team, attending conferences and passionately arguing about imperialism and global socio-political issues. A few other favorites include: extreme weather, dystopian literature, and (spending all of my money) traveling.

Tessa Crisman is a junior Sociology major with minors in Spanish and Latino Studies. She specializes in academic writing, writing for the social sciences, and literary analysis. Tessa was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, and in her spare time likes to knit, read, and go people watching. When she’s not hard at work in the Writing Center, you can find her around campus facilitating diversity conversations, attending student organization meetings (especially if there’s pizza), and telling her friends that feminism is for everybody.

My name is Amber Donofrio and I am a junior Writing major with minors in Art, Art History, and the H&S Honors program. I consider myself an essayist at heart and like to experiment with hybrid forms, exploring the concept that visual and written expression are inexplicably connected. I am excited to help you with your writing, and feel free to run any ideas by me if you’re just now trying to figure out what to write (it’s always helpful to talk things through to get your mind really going). My specialties include academic writing, lit analysis, personal essay, fiction, and art history.

I'm Meredith Clarke, and I'm a sophomore English major from Elizabethtown, PA. Journaling is my favorite kind of writing, and I never go anywhere without taking along at least one notebook. I'm a huge fan of drama, and acting is my passion. I'm a member of the on-campus theatre troupe Macabre Theatre Ensemble and have been seen on stage in my pajamas, drooling, and on several occasions, dying. I love interacting with people and learning from my peers, so bring me your ideas and we can build a pretty paper together.

Steve Fowler is a sophomore Writing Major with minors in French and Web Development. Originally from Cornwall, New York, Steve enjoys reading novels, flash fiction, and especially his peers' personal essays. When he isn't scribbling loose thoughts down on scraps of paper or working in the writing center, Steve can often be found downtown at Cinemapolis, a record store, or a coffee shop. (If he is not in one of these three places, he has more than likely been kidnapped). Steve likes working in the Writing Center because it allows him to hear interesting perspectives from fellow students and help them to accurately capture them on paper.

Hello, my name is Matt Kelly. I am a junior sport media major with a minor in writing. When I'm not at the writing center, I'm usually playing guitar, reading long form sports narratives, working at the college radio station or playing video games with my friends. This is my first semester as a tutor at the writing center, and I'm excited to help you organize your most creative and profound thoughts into some top-notch essays. I particularly enjoy working with academic essays, fiction stories, poems and long form nonfiction. Hope to see you soon!

Hello! My name is Jennifer Pike. I am a sophomore with a major in writing and a minor in honors. I’m from a tiny town in North Jersey called Midland Park. I love writing essays, fictional stories, and research papers. I spend my free time reading creepy internet stories and humorous articles as well as spending time with my beautiful friends. I love to help people with subjects like research writing, personal essays, English essays, fiction, and brainstorming.
