Scheduling Options

Based upon the information you discovered about yourself after completing the “Who Enrolls in the Exploratory Program?” form, you will see that at this point in your academic career you may fall within one of the Exploratory Program’s disciplinary-based options.  Each option provides a starting point and includes the flexibility for exploration outside of your identified current areas of interest.

The options include the following:

  1. Social Science (SS) Option

  2. Creative Arts Option

  3. Natural Science and Mathematics (NS) Option

  4. Humanities (HU) Option

  5. Non-disciplinary Option

  6. Pre-professional Options:

a.    Business
b.    Communications
c.    Health Sciences and Human Performance
d.    Music
e.    Division of Interdisciplinary and International Studies

Each option is explained in more detail in the document Disciplinary-Based Options. After you have read this additional information, please identify the option that best fits your current areas of interest.  You will be prompted in the on-line Course Selection Information Form for your disciplinary-based option.

These options are presented as a starting point.  You may find that you have interests in two or more of the options.  Please rank the options according to your strongest areas of interest at this time.  All the options have flexibility for exploration so it may be that your second area of interest will be explored through coursework in other options.

Based upon all the information you provide, we will construct a partial schedule for you before you arrive for summer orientation.  At orientation, you will meet with an academic adviser who will assist you in selecting your open coursework and making any appropriate adjustments to your schedule.
