It will be very helpful to you to take time now to become familiar with the tools you will use to construct your final schedule at Orientation. At Orientation, you will receive a copy of the 2009-2010 Undergraduate Catalog and a copy of the summer edition of the fall 2009 H&S Supplement.
H&S Supplement
We suggest that you review the following online information ahead of Orientation:
1. The introductory page of the H&S Supplement
2. Basic Scheduling Guidelines
a. Reading Homer Connect Listings (pdf)
b. Reading Catalog Descriptions (pdf)
3. Placement Scores
In the online H&S Supplement, you will see a list of departments down the left-hand side. If you click on any of the department names, you will be brought to pages in the H&S Supplement which contain more detailed information about departmental courses offered for the fall 2009 semester. This is valuable information for you when considering your fall course choices. The H&S Supplement contains more specific information about courses than does the Undergraduate Catalog.
AT THIS TIME, DO NOT BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE REFERENCE TO GENERAL EDUCATION. We will spend time at our academic briefing during summer Orientation discussing general education. THIS SHOULD NOT BE A CONSIDERATION FOR YOU AT THIS POINT IN THE COURSE SELECTION PROCESS.
Homer Connect
Homer Connect is the online web-based student and faculty information system at Ithaca College. Students will use Homer Connect to view class schedules and the course catalog, register for classes, view financial aid and bursar information, and see demographic information.
For your current task of selecting two courses for pre-registration, you will not use Homer Connect; however, if you want to become familiar with the registration process prior to your attendance at Orientation, please consult the HomerConnect Student Guide.
