 The Handwerker Gallery is pleased to announce the first reading of its Spring 2010 “Thursdays at the Handwerker” series on February 4th at 6:30 PM. The reading, themed “Paradigm Shift,” will feature assistant professor of writing Linda Godfrey and junior writing major Carrie-Lynne Davis.

Psychology professor Barney Beins was elected Fellow in International Psychology, a division of the American Psychological Association that represents the interest of all psychologists who foster international connections among psychologists, engage in multicultural research or practice, apply psychological principles to the development of public policy, or are otherwise concerned with individual and group consequences of global events.

Jean Hardwick (Biology), in collaboration with Marie Southerland (East Tennessee State University) has received a four year grant from the National Institutes of Health Heart, Lung and Blood Institute entitled “Remodeling of the guinea pig intrinsic cardiac plexus with chronic heart disease”.  The grant, totaling ~$495,000, will support research on how chronic heart disease alters neuronal control of the heart.
