The Handwerker Workshops series offers projects that are in the process of being refined and completed and thus require an active response from the viewer.

  • Feb. 18–24   Marra AlperMara Alper, Close to the Bone, a video-sound installation. Meet the artist Friday, February 18, 5:00–6:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the Tower Club. Lecture funded by Presentation Funds, a program of the Experimental Television Center, supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.

Endangered Species
Andy Warhol

Produced in 1983, this series of 10 silk-screen prints portray animals that were facing extinction then. The prints are representative of a style most often seen in Warhol’s later career.

Global Video Series

Tuesday, February 22–Friday, February 25
Young and Restless

Organized into four programs, Young and Restless features 21 performance-based video works by 17 women artists. These energetic, often ironic pieces, made between 1993 and 1997, showcase artists who engage in dynamic explorations of female identity.

Video Works by Klaus vom Bruch

Klaus vom BruchKlaus vom Bruch is one of Germany’s most prominent and provocative video artists. His work engages in a powerful analysis of identity in relation to Western cultural mythology and history.
