2008 Hugh Egan Scholar

Lauren Hall '08
Sociology Major

Lauren, one of two winners in 2008, came into Ithaca as an exploratory student and spent her first year searching for community and engagement at the college. After her freshmen year she was nominated for the program. She applied and was accepted. Lauren also chose to continue her Ithaca College career as a sociology major.

During her time at Ithaca College, Lauren worked for the current Honors Program director, Bob Sullivan, as an assistant, helping to organize institutional research on honors programs throughout the country, keeping current the website, and assisting with programmatic activities. Lauren also participated in the Ithaca College Model United Nations team and the IC Spanish Club. She was a TA for the Sociology Department and worked for the Sloan Work and Family Research Network housed at Boston College for independent study. Lauren also spent a semester abroad during which she lived and traveled in both Chile and Argentina, studying education and social change.

Lauren is currently doing social work in Chicago as she prepares for graduate school.
