This view shows the "alternate site" adjacent to the built upon site. During the twenty-year period when the alternate site lies fallow, it is covered with white gravel. No plantings are permitted to encroach on the site itself, and the emptiness of the precinct makes a strong contrast with the dense cryptomeria forest around it.
