Service Learning in Native America May 2011
Another great year learning about Haudenosaunee history, land and culture. We worked at the Cayuga SHARE Farm, helping Dan Hill (Cayuga caretaker) getting it ready for the Cayuga Nation Picnic June 11, 2011. Jack Rossen gave us an archaeological and historical tour of the area. We had a great day at the Onondaga Nation, touring the school with Freida Jacques and helping Ada Jacques put up her garden fence. Alfred Jacques, renowned lacrosse stick maker, helped in the garden, showed up his lacrosse shop and took us on a tour of the woods showing us species of trees and plants used by the Haudenosaunee.
