First Peoples' Festival welcomes Native Nations from all over New York Oct. 2, 2010

The Homecoming Festival at Tutelo Park has moved and become the First Peoples' Festival which will be held in conjuntion with one of the most popular events in Ithaca -- Apple Fest. The First Peoples' Festival will be held in Dewitt Park from 10am to 6:30pm, just one block from the Commons. We will welcome Native American tribes and nations from all over the state of New York and beyond. Featured events include the Haudenosaunee Singers & Dancers led by Sherri Waterman Hopper (Onondaga), traditional flute music with Dan Hill (Cayuga), traditional stories by Perry Ground (Onondaga), cornhusk doll making with Marcela Kane, lacrosse demonstrations with Alf Jacques (Onondaga), Tools of the Hunt with Mike Tarbell (Mohawk), music, art, crafts, food and more!.
