Who Can Apply?

Students can apply for an  Ithaca College Robert Noyce Teaching Scholarship Program in one of two ways: in the spring semester of the Junior year as an Ithaca College undergraduate student, or as an applicant to our MAT in Adolescence Education programs or MS in Childhood Education program.  

As an Ithaca College Junior you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be majoring in biology, chemistry, environmental science (with additional required courses), mathematics, or physics
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.3 in your major program coursework
  • Have an overall GPA of at least 3.0
  • Complete EDUC 21900 (Early Field Experience-Theory and Practice) with a minimum final grade of B
  • Earn a minimum final grade of B in either
    • MATH 32000 (Linking High School and College Mathematics) OR 
    • PHYS 34000 (Linking Science Learning to Science Teaching)
  • Be enrolled in 12 or more credits each semester during scholarship support
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien 
  • Be selected by the Noyce Application Review committee to receive an award

As an applicant to our graduate teacher certification programs you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be accepted into our graduate teacher certification program
  • Compete the Noyce Scholarship Application for Graduate Students (note that you do not need to submit additional letters of recommendation or transcripts; we already have those documents through your application to our graduate program)
  • Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien 
  • Be selected by the Noyce Application Review committee to receive an award
