Your options are many in our drama program: by taking a liberal arts approach to theater, you'll explore a wide range of career opportunities and prepare yourself for the challenges and rewards of today's theater industry.

The curriculum includes courses in directing, acting, theater history, stagecraft, dramatic literature, theory, and criticism, with opportunities to study dance, playwriting, stage management, and theater arts management. You can select from nearly all courses in the department, allowing you maximum flexibility in your studies.

For hands-on learning, you can get involved as stage manager, assistant director, dramaturge, or technical assistant in our six productions each year. And in your senior year, you may find yourself choreographing or directing a studio production. Other opportunities include a semester at the National Theatre Institute, at the Ithaca College London Center, or in one of our many affiliate study-abroad programs.

The flexibility of the drama program allows for the pursuit of interdisciplinary studies as well as additional majors in fields such as English, communications, or psychology. This customization has allowed our graduates to establish careers in professional and educational theater, film and television, business, law, and many other professions.
