Transitions are opportunities to explore and discover new truths. I write this welcome as one of the newest members of the Ithaca College community, and as someone keenly aware of her new surroundings and of all of the possibilities that beckon. From the window of my office I watch students visiting campus with their families, contemplating their futures. The excitement is palpable: this is a wonderful time to be at Ithaca College.
Liberal arts education in the School of Humanities and Sciences provides many different paths for our students' futures. We're the heart and soul of the academic enterprise -- and we purposely represent a diverse range of intellectual traditions, methodologies, and habits of mind. Our faculty members are known for their scholarship and for their teaching, and we take great pride in our student-centered culture -- providing all sorts of opportunities for undergraduate student research and faculty-student collaborative projects.
It isn't possible in this short letter to give you a full sense of the range of opportunity that the School of Humanities and Sciences represents. Instead, I urge you to explore our programs by examining materials available here. If at all possible, visit us to discover for yourself the outstanding facilities and great natural beauty that set our campus apart. If I can provide any additional information or help, I'm glad to do so.
Best wishes,
Leslie W. Lewis, Dean
