Ithaca College Math Department Hosts Professional Development Day
The Mathematics Department hosted a professional development day for teachers in the area. Elementary, middle and high school teachers from school districts in the region participated in a series of workshops focused on the mathematical preparation needed to implement the Common Core State Standards. The Common Core State Standards were released in 2010 and represent a change in the content guidelines for many states. The main purpose of the CCSS is to establish consensus on expectations for students in grades k-12.
The workshops took place on January 19th. Emile Wiesner, Eric Robinson, David Brown, John Maceli and Cristina Gomez were the presenters for the different workshops, which focused on the content standards and the mathematical practices. This activity was co-sponsored by TST-BOCES.
