Service Learning

Also known as community-based learning or civic engagement, service-learning opportunities allow students to work with an individual, group, or organization in a collaboration that will benefit the community partner. Students connect what they learn in the classroom to their service experiences under the guidance of a faculty mentor.

Service-learning opportunities allow students to

• support or help develop community activities;
• teach or offer a skill;
• engage in social justice work; and/or
• participate in sustainability initiatives.
