|Dean's Award for Occupational Therapy|
The youngest of four, I was born and raised in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. I chose Ithaca for the welcoming and nurturing community as well as the accelerated occupational therapy master’s program. Personally, I love the resourcefulness, versatility, and philosophy of the profession which promotes meaningful activities in order to heal and maximize well-being. Professionally, my goal is to apply both the knowledge and experiences I have gained at IC to become an exceptional occupational therapist and assist individuals to succeed in life.
While attending Ithaca College, the memory that stands out the most is my occupational therapy internship while studying abroad in Haifa, Israel. Working alongside a licensed occupational therapist, I led group and individual treatment sessions, a rare handson- experience for an undergraduate, at the Ofakim School for Children with Complex Neurological Disorders, all in a foreign language. This experience challenged me to be creative and independent while interacting with staff and children from a multitude of religions, ethnicities, ages, and diagnoses. To this day, I find myself applying lessons I learned during my internship in Israel as I continue my journey to become the best occupational therapist I can possibly be.
