|Graduate Professional Excellence Award in Physical Therapy|
I was raised in Wayne, New Jersey and began playing soccer at a young age. I sustained a number of injuries from this competitive soccer experience, which landed me in the offices of multiple health care professionals. Physical therapists especially encouraged me to be an active participant in my rehabilitation. These clinicians taught me about my injuries, their causes, and how to prevent them in the future. This patient-centered approach motivated me as a patient and spurred my interest to enable other individuals to find the strength to overcome their own physical hardships. This experience ultimately led me to pursue a career in physical therapy. I plan to complete my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at Ithaca College next year.
While in the Physical Therapy program at Ithaca College, I have had the opportunity to take the aquatic physical therapy elective multiple times. This unique course constantly challenged me to think more creatively as a clinician. It also provided me with an opportunity to teach younger students about the benefits of aquatic physical therapy and its overall versatility. This experience will benefit me as a clinician regardless of which type of setting I choose to practice in.
