|Professional Excellence Award in Athletic Training|
Growing up in Chester, New Hampshire, the outdoor life, particularly athletics, always called to me. In high school, I played soccer, lacrosse, and ran track. It was here that I was first introduced to the athletic training profession. I soon found myself spending time before and after practice in the athletic training room. My high school athletic trainers inspired me to follow in their footsteps and emulate the same dedication and compassion in caring for injured athletes. Ithaca College and the athletic training professors further fueled my passion as I cultivated my skills. After graduation, I will go on to earn a Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Ithaca College.
As I look back over the past four years, no experience stands out to me more than my summer spent at the Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, New York. Each day in lab was an unforgettable experience. Working on the cadavers gave me an appreciation and sense of awe for the human body that will never wane. Holding a human heart in my hands was a breathtaking experience that instilled in me the tenderness of life. This experience summons me to treat my patients in every respect: heart, body, and soul.
