|Professional Excellence Award in Health Sciences - Premed Emphasis|
I am from Pittsford, New York and my interest in Ithaca College started from my many trips to Ithaca visiting grandparents. I started my college career at SUNY Fredonia where I studied Biology and played on their ice hockey team. I chose to come to Ithaca because their Health Sciences Pre-Med emphasis offered me the opportunity to learn more about the health care field and still get the prerequisites I would need to apply to graduate programs. After graduation I am moving to Boston where I will be attending the New England College of Optometry.
While attending Ithaca College I had the opportunity to intern at a local CrossFit gym. The head coaches there are IC graduates from the School of Business. What I liked most about this internship was that I was able to develop organizational, speaking, and leadership skills that I will use to develop my health professionalism. I also learned how to analyze movement to not only help athletes perform movements safely, but also improve my own strength training. I am now a full-time coach and love the fact that I can change people’s lives through fitness.
