Growing up in the small, suburban city of Rockaway, New Jersey, I was certain that I’d never leave my comfortable and familiar surroundings. I was also certain that I wanted to study occupational therapy, after shadowing an occupational therapist at Morristown Medical Center, while still in high school. I am so grateful to have a found a profession in the exciting hospital setting where I can utilize my creativity and love for problem solving. I look forward to working in conjunction with other health care professionals, as part of a team to support others in engagement of meaningful occupations. I am indebted to the professors who have helped me on my journey to reach this goal.
Of all the wonderful experiences I have had while at Ithaca College, the most memorable was attending the University of Rochester during the summer of 2013 with the Physical Therapy students and taking Gross Anatomy at Strong Memorial Hospital. I had the honor of learning about the human body through cadaver dissection. This experience was both the greatest challenge and accomplishment of my life. During my journey here at Ithaca College, I have learned that stepping outside of familiar surroundings can be life changing.
