|Professional Excellence Award - Sport Management|
My life has been one of discovery. Growing up in Madison, New Jersey, I was fortunate to have many opportunities that made me ready for and excited about attending Ithaca College. I traveled throughout Europe; I taught and coached swimming at the community pool; and I swam competitively. I chose Ithaca College to continue my journey of discovery because of the personal connections I made with professors, coaches and students. I entered the exploratory program that allowed me to find my path.
From my very first sport management class, I knew I had found my major. My fieldwork and internship experiences were essential to my degree. At the Buffalo Bills football summer training camp, I observed the coordination required to organize a month long event that brings together players, coaches, media, and the public. At the community relations office of the New York Islanders, I found the many ways the hockey team gives back and connects with the public. My professors at Ithaca College believed in my ability to achieve my goals. Their sincere interest in my success was empowering. With their encouragement, I discovered in myself the strength I will need to continue on my journey. Upon graduation I will be working for the New York Jets as a member of their events and game day entertainment team where I will continue to serve the sport community.
