|Professional Excellence Award in Sport Management|
Ever since I was around my father, a former high school athletic director and basketball coach, I knew sports were my passion. After researching dozens of schools across the country, I knew leaving my hometown of Novato, California, and making the journey across the country to Ithaca, New York, was a huge leap of faith. The sport management and media program was one of the best in the country and I knew the small class sizes and well-connected professors would put me in an environment to thrive. After graduating from Ithaca College in three and a half years, I was hired by the head coach of the Miami Heat, Erik Spoelstra, to become the Associate Director of his youth basketball academy.
Of all the great experiences I had at Ithaca College, my most profound experience was working with Michelle Manning, assistant director of athletics. At the end of my sophomore year, Michelle gave me the responsibility of being in charge of the Hill Center scheduling. This empowered me to be a vital asset to the IC athletic department. What she allowed me to do as a student worker helped shape and form me into the business professional I am today.
