There are two primary athletic training facilities on the IC campus where athletic training services are provided, and where a large percentage of our Athletic Training Students' clinical education occurs. The main athletic training clinic is located in the Hill Center Building, and has roughly 1200 square feet of "usable" space. A second athletic training clinic is located in the Ceracche Athletic Building located between the football and the baseball fields, and has approximately 750 square feet of clinical space. Both can become overcrowded during peak hours, but are run efficiently and are adequately equipped to provide a dynamic & well structured clinical learning environment for all athletic training majors.
Demonstrating the significant commitment to our program from the College, facility changes occurred in 1978 (addition of Ceracche athletic training clinic), 1989 (expansion of Hill Center athletic training clinic), and 1994 (office space for athletic training staff). The most recent upgrades can be seen in the renovations and expansion of the Hill Center athletic training clinic (1997), and the Ceracche athletic training clinic (2002). Ceracche's Athletic Training Clinic received a dramatic face-lift, with the inclusion of a wet area for the whirlpool and ice machine, an office for the certified athletic staff, and an increase in the number of treatment tables and storage areas.
Additionally, our academic program boasts the inclusion of an outstanding dedicated clinical classroom & learning laboratory in the Hill Center. Hill 55 is a "Smart Classroom" (overhead projector & PC ready) where all of our classes that include the instruction, practice and evaluation of "hands-on" skills takes place; and is equipped with dual function evaluation/learning tables and adequate space for hands on learning. It is also stocked with ample athletic training supplies such as tape, bandages, braces, wound care essentials, and the like for real time clinical learning & practice!
Not to be outdone, the newly planned Ithaca College Athletics & Events Center has architectural plans to include a 3rd Athletic Training Clinic that will provide us a 3rd site for clinical practice and education as our athletic training program provides clinical services for athletes and events in this new, state of the art facility.
