Charles Ciccone

Brief Bio

I currently hold the rank of professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. I received my BS in physical therapy from Ithaca College in 1975, and my PhD in physiology from Rutgers University in 1983.

My primary teaching responsibilities are in the areas of physiology, biomechanics, pharmacology, and biostatistics. My research focuses on the ways that pharmacology can impact physical rehabilitation, and the clinical implications of prescription and over-the-counter drug use in patients receiving physical therapy. I have authored several journal articles on the physiological responses to drug therapy, and I wrote the book Pharmacology in Rehabilitation, 4th edition, 2007 (FA Davis Co, Philadelphia).

I am currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the American College of Sports Medicine. I also serve as an Editorial Board member and editor -- Continuing Education and Reviews for Physical Therapy (Journal of the American Physical Therapy Association), and I am a member of the Editorial Advisory Group of PT Magazine.
