Physical Therapy Faculty and Partners of the Americas Member Travels to Antigua
Kathleen Buccieri, associate professor and director of clinical education in the Department of Physical Therapy-Rochester Center, recently traveled to Washington, D.C., and Antigua (in the West Indies) with the Partners of the Americas.The Partners of the Americas is an international service organization partnering North and South American communities together to achieve cultural and educational growth.
Professor Buccieri recently attended a two-day training workshop with POA in Washington, where she met her Southern partner, learned about the organization and supports offered by POA, and even signed the national congratulatory card to President-elect Barack Obama.
She then traveled to Antigua and Barbuda on a fact-finding mission to identify children with special needs, expand disability awareness, and work with community agencies to enhance service delivery. Buccieri delivered toys, books, and toiletries donated by Ithaca College students [see photo, right] and is actively working on future projects that might involve student participation.
