Opportunities are competitive and based on available space. When appropriate prerequisites have been met, the DPT can be earned in as little as three years.
The six year DPT program is designed for freshman entry, however internal and external students may transfer into the program starting as early as the fall semester of the sophomore year and up to the beginning of Physical Therapy Department courses.
Students can transfer into the program and complete the required graduate level Physical Therapy courses in three years once they have completed the undergraduate requirements for the B. S. Degree in clinical health studies, or have a B. S. from IC (or another institution) and have the completed the specific undergraduate requirements.

The exact prerequisite coursework required for transfer will depend on the point of entry into the program. See the PT Curriculum side bar to the right for details and/or contact the appropriate person below for more information.
The following are transfer criteria specifically for the physical therapy program:
1. Minimum cumulative GPA 3.0, with a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.00 in all natural science courses
2. Completion of 40 hours of observation, volunteer work, or paid employment in a physical therapy setting
3. For non-native speakers of English, a minimum TOEFL score of 550
4. Three references, at least one from a physical therapist
