Taylor Allen- Therapeutic Recreation
My name is Taylor Allen, and I’m currently double majoring in Outdoor Adventure Leadership and Therapeutic Recreation.
I’m originally from Lancaster, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour outside of Philadelphia. I love to spend time with family and friends, do anything in the outdoors, and volunteer. My main focuses in life have always revolved around the outdoors and helping others, so I was ecstatic when I was able to keep those focuses and apply them to my education as well.
When I first started my college career here at Ithaca, I was in an Exploratory (or undecided) major, and struggling to find a program that fit both main parts of my life. After one semester, I declared a major in Outdoor Adventure Leadership. Soon afterward, I was looking to fill that “care-taker” side of me, and then declared a second major in Therapeutic Recreation. Everyone in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies was extremely welcoming, helpful, and accommodating for my unique request. I couldn’t be happier with my designated educational path!
Ithaca College’s recreation and leisure studies programs are all simply wonderful. They’re tailored to your own personal wants and needs as a student as well as the kind of experiences you’re looking for to pave your future. Each professor in the department truly cares for your understanding of materials and takes an interest in your professional and personal goals.
I would be happy to answer any questions or inquiries you may have about Ithaca College, the programs offered, the requirements, or anything else that may come to mind. Please feel welcome to send me an email!
I hope to hear from you soon!
