Laura Lefebvre- Therapeutic Recreation
My name is Laura Lefebvre, and I’m a Therapeutic Recreation (TR) Major.
I'm from Groton, Massachusetts, about forty minutes outside of Boston. My interests include art, canoeing, swimming, hiking, watching movies, reading, photography, road trips and spending time with my friends, family and pets.
When applying for school, I knew I wanted to help people, but I didn't want to be in a high profile medical profession such as a doctor or a nurse. I wanted a career that was both fulfilling and fun! Which is why when I heard about recreational therapy, I knew it was my perfect profession.
I chose the Therapeutic Recreation program at Ithaca College because the classes were small, ensuring I would get enough attention if I asked any question. By the end of my first semester here at IC, I knew all the professors in the RLS Department, which really comes in handy when you have a problem with your schoolwork. I also chose it due to the enriching courses the TR program has to offer. Unlike other majors, where you sit there and take notes for the whole semester, the department really immerses you into the community to gain experience first hand.
If you have any other questions please email me, I’d be happy to answer them. Hope to see you at Ithaca College!
