Five students from the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies were selected to present as part of a Student Leadership Symposium at the International Conference on Outdoor Leadership in Estes Park, Colorado. All of the presentations were well attended, showcasing the quality of the RLS program at Ithaca College. Their faculty adviser, Christopher Pelchat, Ph.D., got many accolades for the professionalism displayed by the students.

Brittany Raphael (11', TR), Darielle Grossman (12', RM), Jay Lucas (12', RM), Kelsey McCabe (12', OAL), and Zack Turner (13', OAL) presented "Social media is recreation." as part of their Seminar of Professional Development course that is the department capstone. 

It’s not every day you get to save someone’s life, but that’s just what outdoor adventure leadership major Tom Healy ’10 did last October in Yosemite National Park.

Lauren Barnes, an outdoor adventure leadership major in the Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies, won the Wilderness Education Association Student Leader Award.
