The Assistive Technology Laboratory at Ithaca College is an interdepartmental community resource that was established in 1998 as a collaborative resource between the departments of Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology.
What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology (AT) includes services and devices designed to maintain or improve the functional capabilities of a person with a disability. AT can facilitate an individual's ease in accomplishing tasks of daily living, education, work, recreation and communication. AT services and devices specific to improving communication are often referred to as Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). AT service means any service that directly assists an individual with a disability in the selection, acquisition, or use of an assistive technology device (ATD).
