The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SLP/A) at Ithaca College offers graduate programs in speech-language pathology (SLP), and teaching students with speech and language disabilities (TSSLD). The graduate education program in SLP at Ithaca College is accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), 10901 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852, (301) 897-5700. This means that students who complete either graduate program will be eligible to apply for the Certificate in Clinical Competence in Speech-Language-Pathology (CCC-SLP) issued by ASHA upon passing the PRAXIS examination and completing a Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).
According to CAA records, since 2001 over 97% of those individuals enrolling in our programs complete their studies with us. What's more, our graduate students have enjoyed a 97 percent cumulative pass rate on the PRAXIS examinations since 1997 and since 1999 100% of our alumni report finding employment within the profession or continuing their graduate education.
A minimum overall grade point average of 3.0 is necessary for consideration for admission into SLPA graduate programs. All applications for admission and graduate assistantship award considerations, transcripts, letters of recommendation, and GRE scores received by February 1 receive preferential treatment. Students may enroll in individual courses on a non-matriculated basis.
