Accreditation
Our program is accredited by the Council for Academic Accreditation (CAA) through 2011. All programs are accredited for a specified number of years and must then reapply. We will reapply at the appropriate time in order to maintain continuous accreditation.
Application Deadline
The application deadline is February 1. All students must begin the program in the fall semester.
Requirements for admission
Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above (based on a 4 point scale).
Applicants must submit
1. online graduate application
2. GRE scores
3. official transcripts for all institutions attended
4. two letters of recommendation
5. payment for the application processing fee
Applicants seeking assistantships must
1. indicate that they are seeking an assistantship by marking the box on the online graduate application form
2. submit two ADDITIONAL letters of recommendation
In addition, all students must complete a health certification report which must be submitted prior to the first day of classes. Health certification reports should be mailed to

Note: Students who completed undergraduate degrees in speech-language pathology at Ithaca College or SUNY Cortland were not required to provide GRE scores if they had a GPA of at least 3.5 when they applied to our graduate program.
Students who did not major in communication disorders as undergraduates may be required to take prerequisite courses after they have been accepted to our graduate program but before being permitted to take courses at the graduate level.
At the completion of the SLP graduate program at Ithaca College
You will have completed all of the coursework required for eligibility for
§ certification as a speech-pathologist through the American Speech-Language Hearing Association
If you have elected to complete the required courses, you will be eligible for certification to work in the public schools.

We have had a 100% pass rate on the national PRAXIS exam since fall 2003.
Most of our graduates receive multiple job offers. Our graduates are employed in a variety of settings including hospitals, clinics, public schools, special education schools, early intervention settings, and rehabilitation centers.

2. The course sequence for non-SLP undergraduates
If you did not major in communication disorders (or speech-language pathology) as an undergraduate you may still apply to our graduate program. If accepted, you will be considered a provisional student during that time period. After successfully completing the required prerequisites, your status will be changed to matriculated.

Note that students who did not major in communication disorders (or speech-language pathology) as undergraduates typically require an additional year of course work prior to matriculating into the graduate program.

3. Prerequisite course link
This link provides a list of prerequisite course requirements. We encourage students who have been accepted into our graduate program to complete all prerequisite courses prior to beginning our graduate program, unless the course is a prerequisite but is also included in our typical graduate sequence (these courses are - Neurological Processes and Speech Science).
