With the Olympic Games coming to London in 2012, the Ithaca College London Center would like to take this opportunity to convene the first of three conferences examining the legal, political, and economic impact of hosting the Olympic Games.

Abstracts and proposal for sessions are invited in the following areas:

The Legal Issues Surrounding the Olympic Games - Potential topics include, but are not limited to: gender equity; WADA and doping; gender testing; athletes' rights; media and broadcasting rights; sponsorships and marketing; image rights; and other issues.

Policy Issues Surrounding the Games - Potential topics include, but are not limited
to:  development through sport; economic impact of staging the Olympics; Olympic financing and governance; environment and sustainable development; sport facilities: economic boom or white elephants; and the structure of the IOC.

The Olympic Movement - Potential topics include, but are not limited to: the history of the Ancient Olympic Games; the legacies of the modern Olympic Games; the Future of the Olympic Games, and the politics of Olympic site selection.

The conference will feature keynote addresses by international sport leaders and scholars, as well as open paper sessions.  Conference organizers encourage the submission of both individual presentations and panel session topics.  Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words and should include the paper/session title, and presenter's name, affiliation and email address.

Deadline for the submission of abstracts is: December 15, 2009.

Accepted presentations will be notified by February 1, 2010.
