ESPN spotlights Sport Media grad Gavin Cote '12
With the Miami Heat on the verge of their second straight NBA title, there are few people with a better perspective on their historic season than Gavin Cote '12.
Cote, an Ithaca College Sport Media grad, has been an integral part of the network's NBA coverage this year. As Content Associate for the Heat, Cote has compiled highlight packages for SportsCenter, chronicling the team's regular season games as well as its near-record-breaking 27-game winning streak and recent run to the NBA Finals. Cote was recently featured on ESPN.com’s Front Row for his work with the network. The article details his path from a summer intern in 2011 to his current role compiling highlight packages of LeBron James and the Miami Heat for SportsCenter. In the article, Coordinating Producer Judson Burch praised Cote for his storytelling and poise under pressure. He also said Cote came up with creative ways to package clips during the Heat’s win streak which spanned nearly two months.
Formerly the Content Associate for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Cote was assigned to the Heat early this season when production assistant Wesley Allen transitioned to SportsCenter and Baseball Tonight. Besides being among the league’s most popular teams, the Heat and Thunder are two of just three NBA teams with exclusive Content Associates at ESPN -- the third being the Los Angeles Lakers -- making them two of the more desirable assignments at the network.
