Education Dr. Ives' interests lie in neuromuscular control; particularly how neuromuscular control principles can be applied to training for functional strength, injury prevention, and general wellness. In keeping with these interests he has engaged in research on strength and power training, multisensory training, and body awareness techniques. His more recent publications have appeared in Perceptual and Motor Skills; Clinical Biomechanics; Research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport; Journal of Strength and Conditioning Research; Journal of Applied Sport Psychology; Physician & Sportsmedicine; Strength & Conditioning; and Work. Current projects in his lab include examination of kinesthesia as a component of wellness, the relationship between laboratory jumping ability and jumping in real games, psychophysical strength training, and electromyographic techniques. Some of these projects tie into his interest in complementary and alternative medicine, particularly as they relate to neuromuscular reeducation and mind-body therapies. (Dr. Ives teaches an undergraduate course titled Complementary and Alternative Therapies.)
