Timeline
The following provides a timeline and description of the evaluative process.
Faculty Responsibilities
- August
Identify specific assignments (for all learning objectives evaluated this year) where artifacts can be obtained from (Fall or Spring courses) - September - May
Collect Artifacts. Copies of all artifacts housed in Department Office (both written and video… preference is to have these in electronic form)
Department Responsibilities
- September - October
Review all artifacts collected during the previous year for Department Specific evaluation.
October 15 - department report of findings due to GER committee. - November - December
Department discuss results and plans for future changes which will address any issues related to Gen Ed and program specific assessment results. - December - January
Department prepares a final (outcomes & plan of action) written assessment (Gen Ed + Program specific assessment) report for Dean (due Jan 31). - April
Review and Update Curricular Maps (focus is on constructs that will be evaluated next year). Report is due to the Dean by August 15.
GER Committee Responsibilities
- October
Review the department reports from the previous year that were due on October 15 and prepare the HSHP summary report/presentation for the faculty. - November
Present the assessment results at the November HSHP School meeting. - December
Prepare a final written report (due to the Dean by December 15). - January
Term begins for new assessment committee members - March-April
Review and update the General Education rubrics and School Assessment plan for the upcoming year.
Distribute a copy of the General Education rubrics that will be used next year to the department chairs.
Dean's Responsibilities
- September
Distribute a list of specific courses where D-level Gen Ed artifacts will be collected. - January
Finalize and announce new GER Committee members
Schedule meeting dates and times for meetings - February
Create the HSHP Gen Ed assessment report for the Provost (due March 1). Provide a copy to department chairs.
