Required Prerequisites

Speech and Hearing Prerequisites for Admission to the Graduate Program: 

  • Phonetics (3 credits)
  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Speech and Hearing Mechanism (3 credits)
  • Normal Language and Literacy Development (3 credits)
  • Articulation and Phonological Development and Disorders (3 credits)
  • Child Language Disorders: Assessment and Intervention (3 credits)
  • Basic Audiology (3 credits)
  • Clinical Practicum I (3 credits)
  • Aural Rehabilitation (3 credits)
  • Diagnosis and Appraisal (3 credits)

Prerequisites from other subject areas:

  • Social and/or Behavioral Science Course (3 credits)
  • Biological Science Course (3 credits)
  • Physical Science Course (3 credits)
  • Mathematics (Statistics recommended) (3 credits)
  • Computer Technology (2 - 3 credits)

* This requirement can be met by demonstrating proficiency in a language other than English or by completing either two semesters of one language or one intermediate level course.
