Girls & Women Rock:
Celebrating 35 Years of Sport & Title IX
Presented by McDonald Hopkins
March 28-31, 2007
In the days leading up to the NCAA Women's Final Four, Cleveland served as the site for an unprecedented gathering of public policy makers, legal experts, students, and scholars from around the world when it played host to the Girls and Women Rock: Celebrating 35 Years of Sport and Title IX Conference. Over the span of four days, more than 260 conference attendees had a chance to consider the enormity of the impact Title IX has had in creating a massive shift in societal attitudes toward girls and women in sport. The conference program featured 130 presentations and panels addressing an array of topics from girls and trash talking to equity for female coaches in the athletic workplace to the impact of the legislation on minority girls and women in sport to the status of girls and women in sport internationally.
